comparing the New Hampshire Red/the Rhode Island Red

Today I will compare the Rhode Island Red chicken and the New Hampshire Reds.  First I will describe both to you.

The Rhode Island red is a tough and hardy bird that can stand the cold and the heat and is a strong bird. If you don't know of any chickens that can stand up to the environmental elements where you live, I would probably tell you to try the Rhode Island reds.  They have a dark red coloring that seems to get darker as the breed gets older. My grandma says that when she was a kid that they were actually a real red and not very dark colored.  They are a good dual purpose bird (good for laying and good for eating) that lays large brown eggs well into the winter.

The New Hampshire Reds are also a very tough and hardy birds, They are my personal favorite because the rooster and hen are really picture perfect in my eyes, except my americauna rooster who looks wickedly awesome. they are also a dual purpose bird, but they are more for meat than eggs. The hens lay large brown eggs and lay well into the winter. The birds can handle extreme cold and heat also. They have a lighter red coloring than the Rhode Island Reds.
